Ocean Springs is a beautifully small town situated between Biloxi and Pascagoula. The town has a reputation as an arts community. Its historic and secluded downtown area, with streets lined by live oak trees, is home to several art galleries and shops. It is also home to a number of ethnic restaurants relatively uncommon in surrounding communities.
Ocean Springs is known for its schools. They are an “A” school district and Have been for several years. This growing town in my opinion is perfect for anyone who is looking to purchase their first home and start a family. The downtown area of Ocean Springs is charming as can be. You will find streets lined with hundred year old oak trees that you can walk under to enjoy a cup of fresh brewed coffee from the local coffee shop French Kiss and walk to the fresh market on Saturday mornings were you will find Mississippi State certified, producer only farmers market.
Open every Saturday, rain or shine from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the L&N Depot Plaza.
Shop for organic produce, homemade baked goods, plants and herbs as well as seasonal items. After a stroll through the fresh market you can visit many local boutiques and shops that sell a variety of clothing for all ages and several shops with unique gifts.
If shopping isn’t your thing there are several Art galleries and antique shops to visit as well.
From the downtown area it is about a half mile walk to front beach were you will find locals playing volleyball on the beach, walking their dogs along the stretch of coast line, or just sitting out enjoying the amazing views that the Gulf of Mexico has to offer.
So people ask me all the time why should I buy in Ocean Springs and this is why! You really have to visit it yourself to see the true beauty!

Enjoyed Ida’s description of Ocean Springs as an Arts community. Wish they had more charming cottages with appeal for sale.
