Gulfport is the second largest city in the State of Mississippi. The City is a major hub of commercial and business activity on the Coast. There are approximately 150 golf courses located in the area and Gulf Islands Water Park is the largest water park on the coast. Most of the these activities are available year round thanks to the sub-tropical climate of the region.

Within the city there are 34 parks providing a number of recreational possibilities. The Gulfport Sportsplex, located near I-10, is a 250-acre multi-purpose recreational park. There are many shopping venues, from small locally owned shops and boutiques to well known retail stores located throughout the city. Malls and factory outlets, antique stores and restaurants, many featuring local seafood, are enjoyed by residents and tourists.
